Ren Hongbin, president of China National Machinery Industry Co (Sinomach), visited Huaibin county in Henan province on Aug 23, to supervise poverty alleviation efforts funded by the company.

Since the State Council designated the county as one of three assistance targets for Sinomach, the company has made great efforts to help lift living standards in the area.

A series of infrastructure projects have been introduced to the county, including service centers, nursing homes and new street lamps.

The company also provides vocational training and established employment platforms to promote local employment.

A garment manufacturing plant funded by Sumec, a subsidiary of Sinomach, is under construction and is projected to start operations in early 2018, creating 1,200 jobs and lifting more than 500 people out of poverty.

During the trip, Ren also visited some poor families and encouraged them to work hard for a better life.

"It is our responsibility to lift poor people out of poverty. We should work together and try our best to fight the battle," said Ren, at a work conference during the visit.

The company is planning to focus on the development of local education in 2017.
