A friendship middle school constructed by China Machinery Engineering Co (CMEC) in Dhanni village, Pakistan, was officially handed over to the local government on April 12.

More than 200 villagers and students attended the handover ceremony, where CMEC also donated an assortment of school items, including schoolbags and science textbooks.

The school is located in the northeastern area of Muzaffarabad, capital of Pakistani-administered Kashmir, about 35 kilometers away from the residential area of CMEC’s NJ power station project.

Before the new school was built, there were only six classrooms for 140 students. Now, the 10,000-square-meter area consists of 12 classrooms, five offices and a meeting room, which is expected to hold 400 students.

Built with high-quality materials, the school is able to survive even a powerful earthquake, according to Han Xiaojun, Party secretary of CMEC.

It will effectively relieve the long-term shortage of education resources and help improve the living standards of local residents.
